Welcome!
 I am Billy Smiley, founder of Worship Hymn! You might know me from the Christian Rock Group White Heart, as I started the band and was with the group throughout its entire career. I have also been a producer (Geoff Moore, Margaret Becker, Steven Curtis Chapman, Rhonda Gunn, Kristina, Justifide) and songwriter (Clay Aiken, Sandy Patty, White Heart, Amy Grant) throughout my musical career.
With White Heart in an 'eternal sabbatical' state, I produce and develop new artists (Charity Von, Daniel's Window, Justifide, Kristina, Ross Wright Band) and I am also a part time worship leader at Covenant Community Church in Scottsdale, AZ. We have just moved into our new facility, and I have designed my music office to be a pro-tools recording studio to record projects, artists, and live concerts as well as being the music office.
We're a blended worship church - tying in popular worship songs written by the likes of Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, and Matt Redman with new arrangements and entirely new compositions of the old hymns. The vibe we have for worship is very understated and is a wonderful setting in which to lead worship.
I play acoustic guitar and sing, and I have a great pianist on a 'real' piano. I then add just 1 or 2 singers (no more than - so we can get great 3 part harmonies going), and then will have a percussionist, bass player, and a violinist to top it off!
As soon as I started, I saw a HUGE need! There were websites offering a few hymns here or there, but none were current with the music and worship of today - and they were like 8 pages long! Who can put those on 1 music stand?
Also, there are around 80 - 120 hymns that are classics, have stood the test of time, and except to smooth out some of the chord changes, shouldn't be touched. But now…the other 480 in the hymnals are never sung and need a lot of help musically and lyrically! Thus - I started looking for the best worship leaders/songwriters in the USA and we started the process of making these old Hymns worshipful!
Along the way, I picked up a good friend of mine Scott Wesley Brown who saw the same needs in his own church where he was worship leader. Thus the snowball began to roll! These new versions of the hymns were written by myself and 14 other worship leaders (of all denominations) from around the US! So far we have re-written over 150 hymns, and have great arrangements of some of the most popular ones as well - for the traditional to the inspirational to the contemporary worship teams out there!
Being on the road for so many years with White Heart showed me much of what it takes for live performances - and those of you who might have seen us perform will know what I mean!
I have only been a music director for the past three years, but have learned so much and have been humbled in the approach of taking myself out of the picture and letting God teach me how to really worship Him.
So, even though worship music seems to be at an all time high - there were so many pieces missing audio demos, charts, tracks, ppt, etc.) that I just jumped in and have tried to fill those voids! Our goal is to provide you with all those tools! I hope this helps your worship, and performances.
